STRONGEST IMMUNITY TO DEADLY DISEASES

There have been so many talks about a deadly disease, Ebola, which just entered the shore of my dear country, Nigeria. It has claimed many lives so far. It became scarier when one learns how the virus responsible for this disease spreads. It spreads through any body fluid and kills its victim in less than a month. It got me thinking; wondering how one can be secured from it.

Just by the way, it was reported that one can contract the disease by mere contact of a victim’s body fluid with another person. That is, if a bus conductor is infected and while telling you to bring money his spit comes in contact with you, you will contract the disease. It also means that if you stay in a typical Nigerian university hostel where six students are jam-packed in a small room, all the roommates will contract it since sweat resulting from the overcrowding will make sure every member of the room gets the virus. It also means that if a man gets it from a colleague in the office, in the course of their conversation, he takes it home to his wife and children before medical experts could even realize that the virus is already there.

When I saw how easy it is to transmit this disease and how fast it spreads, I realized that one cannot be careful enough to escape being infected by the disease.

So, how can you and I be secured from this deadly disease? While I was ruminating over this, God, I believe, showed me the way of getting strongest immunity. My focus in this article is to show you how anyone who choose to can acquire the strongest immunity to this disease.

Please, before I delve into this discussion properly, let me tell you a bit about biological immunity which God put into a human being. We are constantly coming in contact with microorganisms which can cause disease. We come in contact with them from the food we eat, our breathing and in the course of our interaction with people. As a matter of fact, if you realize the amount of microorganisms that still exist in your properly washed hand, you will wonder how we survive (I was exposed to this reality in my second year microbiology lab).

This is what happens: there are so many disease-causing organism we come in contact every time, but they don’t cause disease in us because there are ‘soldiers’ fighting them in our body, those solders make up what we call immune system. We get infected by diseases when the disease over powers the soldiers.

What I want to show you in this article is how to acquire the ‘solders’ in your system that cannot be defeated by any disease-causing organism, especially the disease called deadly disease.

How are these soldiers acquired? Please open your Bible to Psalms 91:1,3. From the Good News Bible, I read, “Whoever goes to the LORD for safety, whoever remains under the protection of the Almighty,… He will keep you safe from all hidden dangers and from all deadly diseases.”

So, how can you and I acquire immunity to this deadly disease? Very simple: go to God for safety and remain under his protection.

My message to you today is that even though the there are deadly diseases around you; you should not be scared of them. You can acquire immunity against it by going to God for safety and remaining under his protection.

When you do this, he will keep you deadly diseases. How He will do this is not our responsibility to figure out. He may do this by ensuring you don’t come in contact with people who have the deadly disease or ensuring that even when they come in contact with you, you don’t contract it. The important thing is that once you have acquired immunity from God against deadly diseases, He will ensure you don’t become a victim of that disease. How He is going to do it is actually not your business; it’s His job to orchestrate and execute your protection from any deadly disease.

But who is God that He can do this? He is God Almighty, who has the power to do whatever He wants to do to anybody and anytime. This can be seen in His humiliation of King Nebuchadnezzar and making him eat grass for seven seasons (Dan 4:3). He destroyed King Pharaoh and his warriors in the Red Sea while saving the Israelites (Exodus 14). He   visited the Egyptians with death and saved the Israelites, yet they are in the same country.

It’s important to note that in the 7th verse of Psa. 91, one of the benefits you enjoy by going to God for safety and remaining under his protection is that even if many people die around you and you won’t be hurt. “A thousand may fall dead beside you, ten thousand all around you, but you will not be harmed.”

That is why you should not be afraid that you will die because of the number of people dying around you because of deadly diseases. God has a way of safeguarding you even in the midst of death. The same way you have heard reports of plane crashes which people narrowly missed, God will keep you from the deadly disease if you make Him your safety and remain under his protection.

Don’t forget, God may have safety from deadly disease for a man, but he will reject it just like the Israelites were given a land to possess but they refused because they believed that it’s not possible. Please don’t be like them in your believe. Have faith that God can and will protect you from any deadly disease, including Ebola once you go to Him for protection. Emulate Virgin Mary, who instead  of doubting the word of God through his angel, said, “Let it be unto me according to your word.”

Mum and Dad, don’t be afraid of your children. When you have secured protection from your God, He keeps you from your home (Psa. 91:10). That’s why I never bother about my parents and siblings.

Why not go to God for safety today and stop fretting over deadly diseases? It starts with faith in His ability to give you safety. You get qualified to go to Him and make request for safety through Christ Jesus. That’s why you need to accept that Jesus Christ is a payment for all your sins and the one you are yet to commit and submit to his Lordship. Totally trust God to protect you from deadly diseases, even when many are dying from it.

My friend, go about the assignment God has given you today and leave God to his job of safeguarding you in the midst of deadly diseases, like Ebola. He is more than equal to the task.
