Raadda.com, a website reputed as Africa’s Hub for research, has revealed its plans to reward top researchers across Nigeria with cash prizes and lecturing jobs in their forthcoming Raadaa Pan Africa Research Competition which is open to graduates, undergraduates, Masters and PhD researchers, and students of colleges of education, polytechnics, monotechnics and professionals from every country in Africa.

 

Raadaa.com is a website launched to break barrier to research sharing in Africa and has become a hub for quality research work and intellectual discuss. To encourage research execution and sharing, researchers and contents developers who sign up and upload their work free on Raadaa.com get paid based on the views an reviews on their work(s) on the site.

 

In an interview with the CEO/Founder, Mr Chigozie Ezugwu, he told this reporter that Raadaa is partnering with Nigerian Academy of Science, Coal City University, Enugu and Peace Mass Transit to assess, host and reward top researchers with cash prizes and lecturing job in a Nigerian University.

 

Mr Ezugwu revealed that the motivation for instituting the award is to encourage researchers for their efforts while encouraging more Africans to undertake research works that will move the continent forward.

 

“At Raadaa, our mission is to break the barrier to information sharing in Africa and we believe we can achieve this by encouraging researchers with finances and environment for their researches. Cash prizes help them ease the burden they shoulder to carry out their research while a lecturing job gives them the right platform and environment to execute more research work.”

 

According to him, there are two categories in the competition – undergraduate and postgraduate and here is a breakdown of the prizes for each of them:

 

Category A (Graduates, Masters and PhD Researchers and Professionals)

First position – ₦200,000 + Automatic Lecturing Job at Coal City University, Enugu

Second Position – ₦150,000

Third position – ₦100,000

Category  B (For undergraduate, Colleges of education, polytechnics and monotechnic students)

First position – ₦150,000

Second position – ₦100,000

Third position – ₦70,000

 

He emphasised that the judges for the research papers will be fair, strict and impartial in assessing the submissions and will not allow corruption and favouritism blind them from fishing out the best research material submitted.

 

In his word, “We are aware of how corruption and favouritism has hindered our progress as a continent and at the centre of our work at Raadaa is creating a better Africa and that’s why we cannot compromise on standards in assessing and rewarding the researchers. You can bank on our words!”

 

Interested participants are required to submit term-paper, final year project/master’s/PhD thesis or any other well-researched work which must be original, well documented and referenced.

 

Submission of research paper starts on May 1, 2017 and ends end on 31 July while the award ceremony holds on 11th August, 2017.

 

Aside the top researchers who will win the prizes, every participant has a chance of profiting from their research work as long as it is on the site. Raadaa pays any researcher for their research work uploaded on the site based on the views and reviews.
