A POLLUTED HEART FERTILE GROUND FOR SEX-SIN

Sex sin is as grievous in God’s sight just like any other sin. However, this seems to be the most tempting, pulling the strong and powerful from their highly exalted position to the mud. It has ruined destines, Kingdoms and ministries of many from David’s days till today. At BROJID.COM, our Guest Minister this week, Busaosowo Osowo-odarunae R. E. Bisong, gives insight into what makes this sin easier to commit and by that shows us how to make it more difficult for us to commit it. With a clapping ovation, let’s welcome him to the podium….

Everybody is careful about the heart. Medically, once the heart is not in its good shape, the entire body will malfunction. The Bible puts it best in Matthew 12:34 when it stated that: out of the abundance of the heart, the mouth speaketh. Restating the position of Matthew 12:34, Luke 6:45 puts it this way, “Good people do good things because of the good in their hearts. Bad people do bad things because of the evil in their hearts. Your words show what is in your heart.”

This explains that a person’s outward appearance is an exact representation of his inward nature; that is why people who pretend do not endure for long. What you say is who you are and that is what you get.

The state of a person’s heart, especially as a youth has a lot to do with his/her sexual purity. As I write this article, my mind travels very far, but don’t bother about where it is going to. Just as it is said in the Bible that a good tree produces good fruits so does a pure heart enhance sexual purity. I feel so ashamed whenever issues like fornication, homosexuality, and pornography are mentioned in the gathering of brethren because I believe that the Church should have outgrown that. When your heart is polluted with extraneous materials, the truth is that you will be no longer think straight. No wonder Proverbs 4:23 admonish, “Above everything else, guard the affection of your heart; the emotional attachments you make determine the course of your life.”

Many youths who fell into sex sin first got it wrong in their hearts. We must be careful about our emotions, feelings and thoughts because they shape our lives. The Heart is of great value to God and to the Devil. The greatest commandment is to love God with our whole heart. We cannot underestimate the doom that will befall anyone whose heart is polluted. The person may be feeling on top of the world, but the end is a story that many will not like to tell.

The battle of the mind is a battle that we must all win. Our victory will begin with Right Thinking. What you allow your mind to dwell on shapes your personality and affects your actions. For me, Romans 12:1 has been helpful. When useless thought begins to flash your mind, always have a counter weapon to send those thoughts into the abyss. Have Scriptures in your heart that you can always recite to wash off every nonsense from your heart. Dwelling on sexual thoughts will increase your propensity to commit sex sin. God forbid! Have you ever wondered why God does not allow trial before marriage? The sexual urges we feel are meant to be exercised with decency in marriage. It is a divine gift from God. How will you feel if you bought a person a gift and wrapped it, but before you hand it over to the person, he opens it to see what is inside? Of course, you feel bad, especially when it is intended to be a surprise. Sexual appetite is to be satisfied within the confines of marriage. Testing it before or outside marriage is opening a wrapped gift that has not been given to you and you really hurt God when you do that. This causes His Spirit to run away from such a wicked and loose person. The saying that there is no evil in trying doesn’t apply here because there are too many errors that will occur when you try. Many people might have done it and yet nothing has happened to them. They still write and pass exams, they look good and happy. You may be correct, but you are not them and cannot afford to be like them in the name of Jesus, Amen.

The devil in his craftiness will always wait for you on your soft spot and the time when God has set for you to manifest. But thank God, Who has always found pleasure in frustrating the devices of the crafty, so that their hands cannot carry out their enterprise (Job 5:12.) Identify where your weak point is and fight it. Don’t go on living in the illusion that you can’t fall. Seal up yourself properly. If you are attracted to the opposite and yet every time you are with the person, when you will do something stupid, you will know.

Apart from God’s word, another weapon that has been helpful is distance. I said distance not malice. Distance yourself from anyone you are sexually attracted and with time that lust will die off. Don’t distance yourself physically and refuse to let the person go mentally. That will make the distance meaningless.

Prayer is a key you should never let go. Pour out your heart to God about how you feel about a person and ask His Spirit to regulate your feeling and I tell God will help you tremendously in Jesus Name, Amen.

Let me share with us a little story before I continue. I went to shop one day to collect my assignment and I saw a gentleman watching nude videos. Because I entered unexpectedly, he quickly closes the laptop even without stopping the video. I was afraid to confront because he was my senior by age. But I took courage to confront him. He told me that this is the right time to watch them to help you prepare for marriage. My heart weakened at the hearing of such deceitful lie.

You don’t need to commit the sin seven times before you get pregnant neither do you have to do it three times before you infected STDs. You need to do it just once and you will open the gate for untold suffering that may never show themselves in the present.

When we finished speaking, God caused him to break into pieces the video in my presence and kept it in pieces for the person who gave him to watch. Look, God has given you all you need, nude videos will teach nothing. This is a dangerous lie from the pit of hell. Don’t fall for it in Jesus Name, Amen. Destroy every thought that is not sponsored by God in the place of prayer.

Some people don’t necessarily watch nude movies, but their conversation is nothing to write home about. Your heart can be polluted by what you see, hear and say. What do you expect your life to become, when you surround yourself with people of perverse ideologies. You spend your time reviewing and weighing the natural endowment of the girls around and how easy or difficult they can be to get. Heed the warning of 1Corinthians 15:33, “Bad company ruins good character.” No matter how good and faithful you are to God, you can sustain yourself with the wrong persons around. Proverbs 13:20 reveals that he that walketh with wise men shall be wise: but a companion of fools shall be destroyed. There is a greater need for us to watch more carefully our companions.

We cannot deny that the fact the heart is not a vacuum; something must occupy the mind, good or bad. For us, Philippians 3:8 mandates us to fill our minds with those things are good, true, pure, right, loving, etc. Proverbs 4:24-25 cries out: Put away perversity from your mouth and let our eyes look straight ahead. Let us fill our hearts with the Scriptures as our sure anchor. We need to devote time to the ministry of the word and prayer.

To cleanse our hearts, we must never conform to the standard of this world but allow our minds to transformed by a complete renewal by God. Let us continue to confront evil in all its forms as this will help check ourselves. The Holy Spirit is One person that once He comes in, sex-sin is in trouble because He will checkmate you, but we need to invite Him since He is neither an imposter or trespasser.

Let me end by saying that all who have deadened their bodily members as to sexual immorality have never been disappointed by God. If you doubt me, ask Joseph in Genesis 39:1-23.
