THE TRULY WICKED LECTURER

Who exactly is a truly wicked lecturer? Different people have different opinion on who a wicked lecturer is. But if you bother to see him through my lens, let me show you what you will find.

A truly wicked lecturer is one who is incapable of delivering his lectures effectively because he is incapable of giving students the main thing that got them to class.  Time and energy spent in class are supposed to be for one thing: learning. And a lecturer’s job is to do his best to ensure that I learn. The lecturer who fails to prepare for his lectures and come to class to dictate his note (sometimes at old as 10years), does not have good plans for my future.

A lecturer who gets you to pay for your grades or give you shortcut to get grades is the truly wicked lecturer because the purpose of going to school is not to get the grades but to learn. Getting grades without learning defeats the purpose of your going to school. That is why I am personally averse to the idea of giving me area

The lecturer who insists on having carnal knowledge of me or demands my money is most certainly a wicked lecturer. The reason is that I am supposed to work for my grades and not pay to get them. Paying to get them denies me the mental, attitudinal and psychological development that I would have gained in the process of working to earn my grades. Again, why do I have to allow him defile me just for grades.

Let me also point out here that the wicked lecturer is not the one who refuses to dash out marked and insist on doing things the right way. As a matter of fact, he’s the one that truly loves you.  His approach may be stressful, but will pay off greatly in the long run.

How do you handle your wicked lecturers?

Make a commitment to learn your course properly despite their unseriousness. Get good books and study the topics they teach shallowly. It’s about your future not them. If you turn out well tomorrow, they will brag, ‘That’s our product.’ Even when they have contributed little or nothing to your future. If you fail, it’s your wahala.

Refuse to be a party to paying to get grades. It’s not necessary. I have found that you if you have a clear focus of what you want to get out of school and makes a commitment to pursue it, you will not need to ask anybody questions in exam hall not to talk about paying for marks. If he threatens to deduct your marks because you didn’t pay, leave him and God. God knows how to handle such people.

Don’t go, smiling and giggling to a lecturer who makes passes at you. For him to descend so low to make that demand from your positions you to tell give an unapologetic No! Meanwhile, the way you carry yourself determines whether a lecturer will have the guts to demand that or not. If you are begging for marks, he may as well be begging for your…

When possible, discretely report his wickedness to appropriate authorities.
