GOD, NOT YOUR CEO, IS YOUR TRUE PAYMASTER

GOD, NOT YOUR CEO, IS YOUR TRUE PAYMASTER

Please spare me some minutes, on this week’s edition of Scriptural Sense to share with a thought on your work, your reward and your boss.  By the way, hope you are fine. How is your family?

A good understanding of your boss to a large extent influences how you do your work.  When you know your true boss, it helps you know who to look up to for your rewards. Also, when you know that your boss pays well in due time and even gives you bonuses, you are motivated to work hard with all you have got.

In your work, it’s important you bear in mind that your true boss is not your CEO, Senior Pastor, State or Federal government. They are simply channels of delivering your service to God.

Your true boss is God Almighty, the faithful rewarder. He pays everyone according to the fruit of their work. (Jer17:10)

He can be trusted to do that very well because He sees what everyone does in secret and in public.

He sees our hearts and why we do what we do even when we get misunderstood. He sees our silent labours of love and our eye services of selfishness; to give us our due reward.

Whatever work you do, bear in mind that it’s God, not your supervisor or head of organization,  that will give you your true reward.

At best, your company will reward you for the value they perceive you offer. But God will reward you for the inconvenience you subject yourself to to get your work done properly.

He will reward you for extra work you do at home for your organisation and clients. He will reward you for the extra effort you put in secret to ensure your work comes out finer.

Don’t be discouraged that the person you are working for doesn’t recognise your efforts or appreciate it. God does!

You can’t look up to humans for your reward. They either don’t know your silent labours or are  limited in ability to reward you.

Don’t even look at your colleagues and how they treat their work with levity and eye service. They will get their due reward!

Do your work to the best of your abilities. Prepare your lesson note if you are a teacher and put in your best to teach your students.

Put in your best to give society balanced and accurate reports if you are a journalist. Ensure the best of hygiene as you prepare the food, cake and zobo you sell.

You may never get paid for all your labour; but God is your true paymaster. He sees your work in public and in secret to reward you APPROPRIATELY in due season. Work for Him; not your boss!

The biblical Jacob worked for his boss with all his might. God gave him his reward in due season. Despite his boss’ dubious ways, God ensured that he got his due reward in due season!

Before I recap what I have said today, I like you to pay attention to these God inspired words:

“Servants, obey in everything those who are your earthly masters, not only when their eyes are on you as pleasers of men, but in simplicity of purpose [with all your heart] because of your reverence for the Lord and as a sincere expression of your devotion to Him.

Whatever may be your task, work at it heartily (from the soul), as [something done] for the Lord and not for men, Knowing [with all certainty] that it is from the Lord [and not from men] that you will receive the inheritance which is your [real] reward. [The One Whom] you are actually serving [is] the Lord Christ (the Messiah).

For he who deals wrongfully will [reap the fruit of his folly and] be punished for his wrongdoing. And [with God] there is no partiality [no matter what a person’s position may be, whether he is the slave or the master]. (Col. 22-25 AMP)

My point?

In our works, we get our wages from men; but they are not our true rewarder. God is! He rewards according our works, done in secrets and public. Next time you have a job to do or go to work, recognise that God is watching and He will give you your due reward in due season.
