WHY I DON’T DO MINDNIGHT PRAYERS

WHY I DON’T DO MINDNIGHT PRAYERS

It’s a common practice in many denominations and ministries for people to pray at midnight; especially at the instruction of their pastors or man-of-God. While, I don’t have any issues with praying at any time of the day, I noticed that many people who pray at midnight are expressing either ignorance or faithlessness. When people tell me to pray at midnight because it’s the most potent time of the day to pray and I refuse, they see me as being carnal minded or unnecessarily rebellious.

I want to explain to you why I don’t do midnight prayer.

The Scriptures says, “The LORD is your protector, and he won’t go to sleep …” (Psalm 121:3CEV). Since God who is my protector doesn’t sleep why should I keep awake to pray against my enemies or cover myself from my enemies? That’s why I don’t stay up at midnight to pray JUST because that’s when witches and wizard operate.

God is my protector and He is always awake so that even when I am sleeping, busy with my food, or engrossed in my job, he is awake and alerts to protect me.

Nothing is wrong with staying up at night to pray if that’s the convenient time for you but to stay up at night to pray because that’s when evil men operates is  a joke. It’s either an expression of your lack of the understanding that God is in charge, protecting you 24/7.

To stay up at midnight to pray because it’s the time your enemies are out for spiritual battle is unnecessary. Pray anytime of the day. What makes your prayer potent is not the time of the day it’s said but the person saying the and the motive for the prayer.

Let’s get this clear: we don’t have to be actively praying against devil at the same time he is plotting evil against us. That is, if that witch who you claim is plotting evil against you decides to send spiritual missiles to you at night, you don’t have to be awake praying to defend it! You know why? You have the Security that neither sleeps, goes on strike nor engage on social media chart while on duty.

Have you forgotten that when King Balak of Moab wanted to curse the Israelites, they were not praying or in any night vigil, yet no plans of their enemy came to pass in their lives?

As a matter of fact, if you make God your Chief Security Officer (your fortress) He commissions giant security personal to follow you wherever you go. How do I know? “God will command his angels to protect you wherever you go. They will carry you in their arms, and you won’t hurt your feet on the stones” (Psa 91:11-12CEV).

But Jesus Christ prayed at night?

Yes! He did but for different motivation. I don’t believe Jesus Christ prayed at night for the same reason most of us do midnight prayer. My conviction is that it’s the convenient time for him since he spends the whole day ministering to people and may not have time to spend adequate time is prayers during the day. It’s also possible he prayed at night because the problems of people he came on the earth to serve is so much on their mind that he prayed to God, his father to intervene.

What is my point? To stay up at midnight to pray because it’s the time your enemies are out for spiritual battle is unnecessary. If you decide to focus your prayers against devil or your enemies, which I still consider unnecessary, pray anytime of the day. What makes your prayer potent is not the time of the day it’s said but the person saying the and the motive for the prayer.

I hope my point is clear.
