RIGHT PRAYER POINT FOR YOUR ENEMIES

I can’t claim you don’t have enemies – people and cabals who want to frustrate you and wish you don’t make progress. In reaction to these enemies, many Christians spend their time praying against them. On the Scriptural Sense, today, I want to show you the right prayer point for your enemies and how to tackle your them with ease, no matter how big and numerous they are.

Once while I was in church, I heard someone leading the prayer say that Jesus Christ taught us to pray for our enemies but didn’t give us prayer point we should pray on. He therefore raised a prayer point against enemies and invited us to pray along. This got me thinking. Is such prayer point right?

The question is: what is the right prayer point for enemies?

Where is the Love for Your neighbor?

You see, it’s not right to claim that it’s godly to pray against our enemies on grounds that Jesus didn’t give us prayer point for them. If you obey his word which says ‘love your neighbor as you love yourself’ you will realize that it’s not correct to pray that any human being dies or suffers no matter how much we think we have been offended.

You want someone to die for their hatred and wickedness to you because you think you are innocent of their degree of wickedness. My dear, if God punish you and I for everything we did wrong to both our neighbor and God, we can’t survive it. That’s why I don’t see the rationale behind our praying against human being.

Jesus Christ prayed that God should forgive those who crucified Him. Stephen prayed that God should forgive those that stoned him to death. Yet, you go to church to pray that your enemies should ‘saumasult and die’. What manner of christen are you? Where is the love of God in you?

Once, while I was discussing this topic on Radio Nigeria, 96.7 Voice FM, Moment of Blessing, someone called in and read Psa. 37 where David was praying that his enemies should be overtaken by ruin. I agree with him that such records are there but if we read the Bible holistically, we will find that it’s not in keeping with Christian values to pray that our enemies die. The same David told us that God who is his shepherd prepares a table for him in the presence of his enemies and someone wants me to believe that I should kill all my enemies with prayers before my table is made. God forbid!

Enemies can’t successfully Hurt You

By the way, we focus so much on our enemy because we believe an enemy can successfully hurt us. No enemy can successfully hurt a child of God! I repeat: no battalion of enemies can successfully hurt a child of God!

In fact, many of the people we call enemy are simply God’s instrument for our promotion. Jesus’ enemies propelled him to fulfill God’s will for His life. Joseph’s brothers and Mrs Portifer who were supposed to be his enemies propelled him to where God has destined for him to be. That’s why I insist that many of those we call enemies are not enemies; they are God’s instrument for our elevation! If you pray for the death of your enemies, you may remain where you are forever!

If any man constitutes himself an enemy to you; please understand that he is either being used by God or Satan. If he is used by Satan, he can’t stop you and may get crushed by God in the process. If he is being used by God, know that his enmity can only propel you forward.

You know why?

The enmity Joseph’s brother had against him couldn’t stop him from rising to the top of leadership in Egypt. It only propelled him to get there. That’s why I relax and live my life instead of worrying about enemies.

Let me be a bit practical on this matter.

If you have a boss who is possessed by the Spirit of he-goat and he decided that you must sleep with him otherwise he will put his magnifying lens in appraising you to find fault, know that God has initiated a work in your life to elevate you. I am serious! One thing is that you must not give in to his request. Two is that you must put in your best to be so good that he can’t find fault with your work. In fact, double your effort to produce greater result so that he will be amazed at your productivity. Then if he is so stupid to generate fault that doesn’t exist, he will make a public show of his madness.

By the way, if you survive under this condition, you must have been refined and made better at work and walk with God.

How Your Enemies get Punished

However, I need to remind you that if your enemies need to be punished, God knows how to execute their punishment. He is skilled at such job. You don’t even need to know your enemies or work for their punishment. It’s God’s job to avenge for you! All you need to do is to maintain your friendship with Him and go about your life doing the right thing.

How do I know?

While his co workers were plotting against him, Daniel was busy with his work but God isolated them and punished him with their wives and children. The Lion’s Den they had plotted for Daniel ate them up! Again, that’s why I don’t bother myself about enemies. Their job is to become enemies; my job is to be good at what I do and my walk with God. When they need to be taken out, they will fall into the traps they had set for me.

I like to give practical example. No doubt we have Satan’s deputies in many positions of authority and sometimes, they insist you give them bribes to do their work. If you need to run with that God-given vision of starting a school, hospital or broadcast station and anybody at the licensing bodies decided to become a hindrance, only take pity on them. Yes, you don’t need to beg them or contemplate giving them bribes.

Sane Christians don’t give bribes to anybody for any reason; in whatever nomenclature it bears!

Simply go and ask God to open door for you to get license and do what is right. If he is open door and someone decided to close it, He will by himself remove or kill anybody who is foolish enough to stand before a moving train! Mosses didn’t pray that Pharaoh die, he simply obeyed God and He killed Pharaoh   and his chariots.

God Forbid That My Enemies Should Die!

Why should they my enemies die when I am sure that they can’t successfully stop me from getting to where God has destined for me? They need to live long enough to see me become exceedingly great and powerful despite their wicked plots.  I pray that God keeps my enemies well enough to see, hear and touch God’s works in my life. God is preparing a chop table for me and they need to see me enjoy.

Jesus’ Prayer Point for Enemies

Jesus Christ teaches that we should pray for our enemies; so we should make it a point of duty to pray for them. Very importantly, that they get freedom from Satan’s control. Many people you call enemies are Satan possessed people who are on a mission against your destiny. They may be your parents, siblings, uncles, close friends. In their clear sense, they don’t want to hurt you. Have you forgotten that when Satan possessed Judas, he sold his master?

If we truly love these one who have resolved to be your enemies, we should inform of them of the danger they are exposing themselves to and if they don’t listen, pray to God to have mercy on them and forgive them; otherwise God will punish them for our sake. I understand that God’s long-suffering attribute doesn’t make Him everlastingly long suffering but our prayer for mercy and repentance for our enemies can save them until they can’t secure mercy from God any longer.

My point? Don’t pray that your enemies die; pray for God’s mercy for them like Jesus Christ and Stephen did – forgive them for they don’t know what they are doing!
