WHO SAID YOU DON’T HAVE WORK?

WHO SAID YOU DON’T HAVE WORK?

Many times when people are counseled to go and do something with their time to make money and meet their financial need, they quickly disagree saying that they don’t have work. But 99.9% of the times, ‘ I don’t have work’ excuse is simply  not true. They actually have work; but can’t see it let alone apply due diligence to turn it into wealth magnet. Today on BrojidStepUp, I want to show that you actually have work; but let’s first understand what work is.

Work is any activity you engage in that solves someone’s problem, meet a need or make someone better. Work is not necessarily what you do when you are employed; it’s whatever you do wherever you are to create value for people.

Everyone has work! Yes, there is at least one thing we can do to create value for someone or a group of people in exchange for money or another value. The problem most times is that we are so fixated on someone employing us that we hardly settle down to discover the work we have the capacity to do on our own.

You need nobody to employ you for you to work. All you need is to discover what you have to offer to your world and use them to package a solution to at least one of the needs people have and sell to them.

That’s why I believe it’s a lie when a graduate says that there is no work. In Nigeria, there are abundant of work for you to do! There are abundance of work for a stark illiterate; let alone a graduate who has education, training and exposure!

Your education, training and exposure as a graduate does not necessarily guarantee you a job; they empower you with the capacity to work with more excellence and efficiency with or without a job.

Many Nigerian students and university drop outs have gone to build create companies because they discovered themselves and created a solution for others based on what they have got.

An examples is Tobi Ige. While she was a student, she discovered she can provide her students fashionable dress and she raked in about NGN30,000 monthly and still clinched First Class Honours!

Nobody employed her; she didn’t go about begging; no man picked her on weekends to offer him sex money. She worked to earn!

Again, the problem is that we close our eyes to the works we can do because we have been trained to think that the only or best work we can do as graduate is in paid employment.  What a pity! We must deliver ourselves from such deception!

Also, note that being a non graduate doesn’t mean you don’t have work.  Anyone God created has the capacity to work because there is at least one thing you can do very well to add value into the lives of other people.

Whether you are a graduate or not, the important thing is to tap your ability to create value, create the value and continuously improve on it until the whole world come to you for that your unique offer.

The founder/Publisher of Complete sports, Sunny Obazu-Ojegbase,is not a graduate. But he has built multi million Naira Company. He simply discovered his work and packaged a solution to people’s need and has not needed to work for anybody.

Please don’t get my point twisted. I am not in anyway against paid employment. Paid employment is a platform to learn and train your hands to be strong at what you do. It also offers you a place to work to earn pending when you can step out and stand on your own!

My emphasis is that you should realize that you have the capacity inside you to create value and train your hands to translate them into a product or service you can sell to people.

Once you make a commitment to create the value, you will not join the community of those complaining that there is no work and even when you have to go for job interview, you are not going there to beg; you are going to sell your competence to them in exchange for their salary.

My point?

It’s a lie to say that you don’t have work. Once you can create value for someone in exchange for another value you have work. And everyone can do that!

You just have to take a step to work your work until it produces for your financial abundance that will not only help you meet your financial needs but make you a financial blessing to others.

Next time on BrojidStepUp, I will show you the abundance of work you can do no matter, uneducated, unconnected or poor you are. Please join me and do well to share this someone else; it may be what someone needs to attain peak performance in his life and work.
