WHO DO YOU KNOW?

WHO DO YOU KNOW?

Many times when you want to apply for job, bid for contract or get something big done, the question, “Who do you know” crops up. It’s supposed to be a reality check question designed to either wake you up to reality or discourage you. No doubt we need someone! Who we know matters! But the big question is how you get who you need at every point in time to move from where you are to where you want to be. The answer to the question is my focus on Youth Mentor this week. Let’s go.

We Need Someone

We need someone no doubt. Let no one deceive you into thinking otherwise. It’s not only misleading and destructive but fatal to think we don’t need one another in our pursuit of success in life. You can’t, by yourself, engineer your success. You don’t have the capacity. God didn’t put it in you!

Even when God wants to help us, he borrows a human being to deliver the help. God needed Mosses to bring the Israelite freedom from Pharaoh. He needed Jesus Christ as a sacrificial lamb for the reconciliation of man to Him. How then can we claim to have the powers to achieve our vision and meet each our target by ourselves?

Indeed you and I need somebody!

It’s not only misleading and destructive but fatal to think we don’t need one another in our pursuit of success in life. You can’t, by yourself, engineer your success. You don’t have the capacity. God didn’t put it in you!

We don’t only need people to help us achieve our dreams but also need them to connect us from where we are to where we want to be.

If you are a Joseph in the prison, you need a Pharaoh’s servant to recommend you before a confused Pharaoh in search of interpretation to his dream. If you are a Daniel, you need King’s mother who will say I know a man in your Kingdom who can interpret dream.

We really need others to recommend us at some crucial points in our lives so that the world can profit from the solution we carry, otherwise we will live and die in obscurity.

Having understood the fact that we need somebody, the big question is: how do we get this people at every point in time.

We really need others to recommend us at some crucial points in our lives so that the world can profit from the solution we carry, otherwise we will live and die in obscurity.

Let me suggest an answer to you.

The True Source of Help

God is the true source of human help. He uses any man He chooses to per time.

A practical demonstration of the fact that God uses anybody He chooses irrespective of where we are located to orchestrate the connections we need is the man David. He was hidden in obscurity; tending sheep in the bush. But when God decided to elevate him and connect him to higher platform, he sent Samuel to anoint him.

Notice that David didn’t lobby for it. He didn’t buy Samuel Rage Rovers spot on his child’s dedication or placed full page coloured birthday message on major newspaper for him. He was busy doing his work in the bush and when God decided that it’s time for his promotion to a  higher position, he gave Samuel an instruction to go and anoint him.

Joseph was catapulted from prison through Pharaoh’s servant who saw his abilities. He begged the guy to facilitate his release but he went back to the palace and forgot him until God’s appointed time for his release.

In our days, Bishop TD Jakes is an epitome of how God elevates people. He was busy doing his work and doing it to the best of his abilities until God made arrangement for a media mogul to meet him and catapult him into limelight.

even though we need human beings to achieve our goals and connect us to higher platform for performance, we must be careful to ensure that we don’t put our trust on any human or worship anyone God uses to deliver to us His help.

In connecting us from where we are to a place of higher performance, sometimes God uses our gift to expose us to people who have connections to higher places. Joseph’s rise typifies this. That’s a good reason why you and I must be careful not to neglect the platforms of little beginning. We should go about out work; not matter how small it is knowing that God can qualify us for higher platforms based on how well we did the work for each season.

He told Mosses that he has chosen, made and sent Bezalel, an expert in craft work, to assist him with the building of the temple. That’s why I don’t believe that the first step in getting the right staff or people to run a vision is consulting a HR firm. It’s fundamental that we go to God and ask him for our own Bezalel. His answer to our prayer is what makes the HR firm or even the HR department in your organization recruit the best talents.

Therefore, when we have need for human connection or people to work with in achieving any vision, we should look up to God, the true source of help and beg Him to send us help to do our work. When He answers our prayer, He makes arrangement to ensure we get the help we really desire.

Wrong Way to Get Help

Please let’s bear in mind that even though we need human beings to achieve our goals and connect us to higher platform for performance, we must be careful to ensure that we don’t put our trust on any human or worship anyone God uses to deliver to us His help.

Understand that you start worshiping people when you compromise godly standard to please those who are supposed to be in position of helping you. Or that you are afraid of standing for the truth because you may lose favour before them. I am not saying you don’t accord them the respect due to them. Any sane human being does that by default.

[Tweet “I would rather die in hunger that deaden my conscience or drop my values to please a mere human being because of his potential help!”]

Also, it’s not correct to deaden your conscience, tell lies, back bite others, play sycophancy or even manipulate people who we think we need to work with or connect us to big jobs or higher position. Once you start that, you are violating God’s system and the consequences is shutting out his help to you. At such point, like we say in local parlance, OYO (On Your Own) is your case!

From my little experience, God in deed arranges human help and connection; big ones you can even get on your own. I would rather die in hunger that deaden my conscience or drop my values to please a mere human being because of his potential help! Again, the connection and elevation God gives you doesn’t put you in slavery which many subject those they help.

My point?

Indeed you and I need someone at different points in our lives to enable us achieve our goals and connect to higher platforms. However, it’s not right to deaden our conscience and drop our godly value because we want to make connection to those are supposedly connected or powerful. That will amount to trust in human being which is naturally counterproductive.

Hand over your vision or need to God in prayer and He will hand orchestrate every human instrument that will be needed to speak for you before any board or to come and work for you. You may not know them; you don’t even need to know them, after all God does!

God is who you need to know to make arrangement for any other human help you will ever need to take you to where he destined you to be.

So pursue God only; stop pursuing those you consider powerful and connected. They will fall over themselves to do you good when God decides to use them in your favour!
