WHEN YOUR TEACHER HATES YOU
As a student, you come sometimes come in contact with teachers that don’t like you and they don’t hide it. They look out for when you are at fault to unleash their anger against you in the name of punishment. It becomes more worrisome when the teacher in question is your teacher, that is teaches any of the subjects you do in school. My goal in this article is to show you how to handle such teacher so that they don’t affect your academic performance adversely.
Let me start by letting you know that if you don’t react appropriately to a teacher’s hatred towards you, it may turn detrimental to your academic performance and affect your self-esteem badly.
That is why if your teacher hates you and talks down on you, trying to run you down, don’t be intimidated and feel inadequate. What he says about you are simply his opinion about you and not necessarily your true identity. The teacher of the great inventor, Thomas Edison wrote him off saying that he can’t learn, but the whole world now knows that she was a liar since Edison has made ground breaking inventions.
Another way you must not react to your teachers hatred is to be afraid of him or his subject. If you become afraid of him, you will so conscious of what he can do or not, do you in his class that you will find it difficult to learn in his class. Let me remind you that your teacher is a human being like you. Even Goliath who was physically bigger than the little boy David talked him down, thinking that he with his talks alone, he will succeed in killing David but he did not succeed. Just like you, David was a teenager, but he wasn’t discouraged by Goliaths treats. He did not also lose faith in the fact that he can bring Goliath down. That is the way you should all the bad treatment your teacher is meting out to you. Just like David, devise a strategy for tacking that teacher-Goliath.
Now, let’s look at the strategy a bit.
If you caused the hatred by your unserious attitude to your academic work and poor performance in school, you have to change. That’s the way to ensure he doesn’t continue nurturing hatred towards you.
But if it’s hatred either because of your asking him many questions (as was my case when I was in SS2) don’t worry about it. That teacher is a bad one. You may stop or reduce the frequency you asked just so that peace will reign. But still focus on your study knowing that he can’t do you anything.
There are also times a teacher may hate you because you did not connive with them in their evil. An example when you as a class prefect refuse to allow them to sign class attendance register because they have not taught. Or when he wants you to sleep with them and you refuse.
Don’t be afraid of the teacher that hates you when you did no wrong, but because they can’t do you anything. Just study their subjects well and ensure know their rules and stick to them. That way, they won’t find faults to nail you. That is how I handled one of my teachers that hated me when I was in SS 2.
If a teacher insists on punishing you unjustly, he is by that saying that he doesn’t like his life and that of his family because he is setting himself up for death like Pharaoh or Daniel’s colleague.
What is my point? Maintain your focus, cure the hatred if you caused it lead a faultless life and learn his subjects very well to excel despite his hatred.
