“SHORTEST WAY OF CURBING ILL IN SOCIETY” ALOYSIUS AGBO, ANGLICAN BISHOP OF NSUKKA
The Anglican Bishop of Nsukka has prescribed the shortest route to drastic reduction of ill in our society. He gave the prescription in his Mothers’ Day celebration message entitled, Timely Instruction to Mothers.
In his words, the Bishop charged mothers:
“Wake up in the training of our girls to become mothers. The reason is that girls who will become mothers tomorrow will have greater influence than men on children and subsequently the society. When they, through this influence, affect their family units, definitely the society will be affected.
“So, let mothers deliberately and consistently give time to raising their daughter making them their close friends, building up and training them holistically – socially, spiritually, economically and educationally. This is the shorted way of curbing the ill in society.”
Similarly, the President Mother Union, Women Guild and Girls Guild, Mrs Ifeoma Agbo (Mummy Nsukka), in her Mother’s Day Address corroborated what Bishop Agbo had earlier said in his sermon.
“When mothers train their children in a godly way, those girls will grow up and train their own children in godly way, our society will be better.
“So, I call on you mothers to take up the training of your children so that your children will promote morality in their generation. I believe that when mothers pick up their duties in the lives of their children, it will help make this nation a better one. Mothers arise and let’s train our children in godly way!
It was a day of celebration, giving and exchange of gifts at St Paul’s Anglican Church, Nsukka, Enugu State.
